Testing is this Saturday, May 2nd, @ OSU RPAC. Mr. Marker has provided all of the details over on the CTSDA website.
Directions, times, and where to park are all there.
Congratulations to our three competitors from the weekend:
All did very well. For some, it was their first time competing. Everyone enjoyed a positive experience and we're looking forward to the next time.
A reminder that we will be doing a little bit of recruiting next Monday, January 5th @ Lifetime Fitness Easton. We will have a table set up with some material to hand out. The most important part of recruiting is YOU. Come ready to talk about TSD and answer any questions that (your) potential training partners might have.
Since you do not currently have your uniform tops, wear your club t-shirt if you have one or something equally presentable.
I will be there by 5:30 to set up. Hope to see all your smiling faces there.
An excellent article on exactly what the hips are. One part in particular jumped out at me:
The hips should always move as a natural consequence of actions initiated in the legs. Since they have no mechanism by which to move in and of themselves, it is an error to think that we move from our hips. Like a tree being swayed by the wind, the hips are caused to move.
Fall gup testing @ OSU.
An event only three hours away. Competition, fun and camaraderie!
"They are always watching you."
Who are they? That depends on who you are.
If you are the instructor, then they can be your students, prospective students, the person responsible for employing you, or the tough guy on the basketball court, sizing you up for later.
If you are sun bae, then they are the hu bae right behind you. They are also the prospective student, seeing what it means to be senior rank in this school. They are the instructors, taking your measure.
One of our main regional events of the year. Competition for all belt ranks includes the traditional three (forms, weapons, sparring) as well as a few non-traditional events (power breaking, padded weapon sparring, drawn forms).
Paperwork is available on the Region 5 website. A reminder that your paperwork needs to be signed by your instructor prior to mailing.
Here it is. Finally. In the flesh.. er, pixels. It's been a long time coming, but I'm more than pleased with the results. Going through the design process with a professional marketing company was a positive experience for me. They nailed what I wanted first time. That's hard to do, especially with something this personal and dear to me.
I've asked the designers to pass on their notes and comments about how they achieved this. Perhaps I'll have those to post some day.
For now, enjoy it as is.
